*** In collaboration with my lovely and talented Dgroup leader, Patricia Chiu. (Here's part 1.) ***
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
The walls suffocate
And seem to cage you in
You step outside of the shell
Of what you once called home
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
You stare at the skies
The enormity of it all
Makes you feel so small
You lament at the thought
Of a beautiful day and a broken heart
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
And then you ask
"Were the skies always this blue?"
"Why couldn't it rain?"
"Am I invisible to You too?"
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
Beneath the same sky
A love earned and a love lost
Laughter shared and tears spent
In company of others and in quiet solitude
Beneath the same sky
Flowers bloom
And babies blink their first light
As the lone sparrow falls
And a soul heaves a final sigh
Beneath the same sky
The mountains stand tall
As the storms rage on
And the waters roar
A hidden song of glory and praise
Beneath the same sky
The world goes on
While a Savior died
For the salvation of all
So that one day
No one will have to cry
No one will have to die
The sun shines
The rains pour
The winds blow
And time goes on
Beneath the same sky
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
The white walls and silent tears
The broken past and uncertain future
And for every little thing that was missed
Nothing escapes the Creator's hand
He sees it all
