*** In collaboration with my lovely and talented Dgroup leader, Patricia Chiu (Here's part 2) ***
Days blur together
One into the next
You tell yourself, "Breathe."
Sheer weight in your chest
You go down for lunch
Or breakfast? Not sure
You fill your plate but
Food holds no allure
You stare at the walls
Were they always white?
You look around, still
No meaning in sight
You head to the sink
Arms limp, feet lazy
Remember to blink
Things start to get hazy
You feel it creeping
Up your back, spreading
Don't know where you are
Vision tunneling
Feet stuck to the floor
What is happening?
You ask yourself though
You knew from the beginning
The voices then come
From all sides, taunting
"Where is your God now?"
"Is He even listening?"
You cover your ears
That doesn't seem to help
You look up above
You scream, cry, and yelp
"Papa, where are you?"
"Save me from all this!"
He meets you with silence
Darkness begins to hiss
You tell yourself, "Breathe!"
Breaths come in short pants
Again, you make your plea
"Take this weight from my hands!"
Desperation looms
You feel all but drained
Then you start slipping
Tears still pouring like rain
You say your last wish
One you never thought you would
"Papa, take me away..."
"From this world. I know You could."
Then you start to fall
Feelings and doubts, you welcome
Anger, frustration
Bitterness, depression
You cry for injustice
For suffering discounted
You still look up for relief
Lasting, not disjointed
You keep your head up
Still looking for answers
Again, you find yourself here
At the start of your prayers...
